Back to Projects

Schroeder Construction Management completed the historic restoration and addition of Alvirne Chapel, a 1904 landmark in Hudson, NH that serves as both a house of worship and a wedding venue. The project focused on preserving the chapel’s original craftsmanship while upgrading the facility for long-term use.

Historic Chapel Restoration

Over time, the building experienced water damage, wood deterioration, and masonry wear. Our team performed a comprehensive restoration that included:

  • Rebuilding and refinishing the historic exterior doors
  • Replicating the original leather-wrapped interior door detail
  • Sanding and refinishing all ceiling millwork and pews
  • Masonry repointing and exterior repairs

Every element was restored to maintain the chapel’s historic character while improving durability.

Restroom Addition

To enhance functionality for events and services, we constructed a new ADA compliant restroom addition. This required precision cutting through an 18-inch-thick stone wall and carefully integrating new construction into the existing 1904 structure.

The addition includes a new septic system, new millwork, a custom stained glass window and exterior stone facade designed to complement the chapel’s original architecture.

Project Completion

The completed renovation preserves the historic integrity of Alvirne Chapel while providing modern amenities that support continued community use. Through detailed craftsmanship and coordinated construction management, this project successfully balanced preservation with practical improvements.
